Birthday Fun

This birthday started out with a wonderful dinner with my family that is here in AZ (Amber, Nic, and Gavin) and my good friend Curt and of course my best friend and husband. We went to Fajita's, one of my favorite restaurants here in Phoenix. Dinner was fun, then my sister surprised me and made me a cake! She made Italian cream cake from scratch! And it was delicious! And of course we had candy cane ice cream (it's been a tradition for as long as I can remember since candy cane ice cream only comes out in December).

This fun dinner happened on Thursday, when in fact my birthday was on Saturday; because Chase and I where leaving Friday to go to his parents house in Utah, we celebrated my b-day early....well, I was wrong. Turns out that Chase surprised me and we made a stop on our way to his parents house at the Grand Canyon for my birthday!!!!!!!!!! Ever since we moved to AZ, I have been telling Chase how bad I want to go see the Grand Canyon, and we never went, so he gave me an amazing surprise!!!! I loved it! It's breath taking, and the pictures don't do any justice to how beautiful it really is. We stayed at El Tovar, a small hotel built in 1905. It is absolutely beautiful, and right on the edge of the canyon. We where freezing because there was snow, but had SO much fun! If you go to El Tovar, make sure to eat at the restaurant there, some of the best food I have ever had!

Believe it or not, that is not the end of my birthday surprises. When we got to Chase's parents house on Saturday, they had cake and ice cream for me and gifts :) The funny thing is that Chase's mom bought an Italian cream cake, and candy cane ice cream. I thought that was so funny! And for my birthday, Chase's bro, Jesse and Chase gave me the best gift. I can eat chocolate! Let me explain; Chase, Jesse, and I started a bet back in April that they could not drink any caffeine and I could not eat any chocolate (because we each are addicted to those things). Well, the bet does not have an end date, and I kept begging the boys to let me out, and all they would do was make fun of me and tell me I could not do it- so of course I kept going. So, for my birthday they gave me Lindors truffles and Ghirardelli chocolate and told me that I was out of the bet. My birthday was great!

I also wanted to say thank you to everyone for the calls, and birthday cards. I do not have service on my phone at Chase's parents house, so I was not able to answer my phone, but I loved the messages!

We found a dog

Chase and I went on a walk on Thursday night and found this cute girl chasing a car in the street. We walked around hoping that her owner would show up, but we couldn't find anyone. I have posted signs, put her info on www.pets911.com and went to the vet to see if she had a chip; but we have had no luck. I think she is pit-bull with maybe boxer mix, she is really nice. If she looks familar, call me 623/ 523- 4097. Thanks!

While at Shasta, the boys had tube wars. It was SO funny! Here is a series of pictures that can give you an idea of why....... where did they go?

When they got back up on the boat, they could barely stand up straight, they totally got wiped out!

Crazy nails

I went a little crazy with the nail polish last week. It was fun. I read in a magazine that if you paint your nails white, and then put the color on top, it makes the color even brighter. It worked really well! It was fun, but the yellow nails didn't last long because people kept commenting about them, and I don't have very many yellow outfits- so I could only handle it for a few days :)

Chase turned 25!

For Chase's birthday, Amber, Nic, Gavin and I all went out to a late lunch at Z'Tejas. It was fun. It was a relaxing birthday, nothing too craxy; just like Chase wanted.
It is a tradition in my family that the house gets decorated for your birthday and this is a fun tradition that I want to keep alive. However, I have been so busy lately with school and work, that I forgot to buy any decorations. So, 1:00 AM I attempted to make a home-made sign. It's not pretty but I would rather do something than nothing; and its the thought that counts, right? :) At least Chase seemed to think it was nice.

Don't forget the sunscreen!!!

This weekend Chase and I went camping. It was quite the fun adventure, one of those last minute ideas and we went for it. We rented kayaks from Sports Chalet and drove around till we found a camp ground. We started in Camp Verde, after realizing there was still snow on the ground we headed south until we found Lake Roosevelt. We had a blast! However, we learned a lesson that we hope to never forget, don't forget the sunscreen!!! We both got some pretty bad sun burns, but Chase took the worst of it. His sun burn on his back and chest ended up being so bad; we had a lovely visit to the Emergency Room. After much rest, lots of Aloe Vera, Benadryl, Tylenol, and sleep, he seems to be doing much better.

Here are some fun pictures of the weekend
